What is psychotherapy? Breaking down as much as possible the distinctions offered by the different theoretical and clinical orientations, it could be defined as the treatment of problems of a psychological nature based on the interaction between therapist and patient. It should follow, therefore, that in order to speak of psychotherapy it is necessary that there is a patient, a person suffering, who turns to a therapist (a treatment specialist) to be cured of this suffering. The question, apparently simple, becomes more complex if one attempts to give a definition of suffering.[...]
