In the current contemporary scenario of social media and new technologies, everyone can promote new personal identities through the use of video. This possibility allows, in some cases, to 'project' a large part of one's psychic and energetic 'investment' onto the 'socialised' image of oneself, increasingly disconnecting oneself from one's 'inner world', giving rise to forms of suffering of an identity and narcissistic nature, to important difficulties in mentalising, recognising and elaborating one's own emotions, as well as in building relationships. The use of audiovisual methodologies in clinical and psychosocial work, such as participatory video, allows participants to get back in touch with the 'inner world', developing a more conscious approach to self-images, recognizing the evolutionary value of their own fragility, implementing and supporting the capacities of thought, processing of their own and others' emotions and building and maintaining significant links.
