Clinics of emptiness: anorexia, addictions, psychosis

Massimo Recalcati's book, 'Clinica del vuoto' (Clinic of emptiness), first published in Italy in 2002, is for me a fundamental text for psychological reflection on the new forms of malaise and psychic disorder that we have been observing for several years now in so-called western societies, and therefore also in Italy. The reading I have done of this book has been slow and picked up several times and at different times, as if to leave the dense network of meanings it assumes for clinical work in the field of nutrition and eating disorders (as they are called today), in pathological addictions, as well as in psychosis. I consider it a contribution, albeit of a different theoretical matrix, that is important to my experience over the last twenty years of professional activity. [...]
