Reflecting on Lia's case implies starting from the developmental stage in which she finds herself, that is, parenting, placed within a lesbian couple undergoing medically assisted procreation. Parenthood can also be understood as a process that we know enables the transition from 'being the object of care' to being able to give care. I shall therefore focus on the hypothesis of the importance of the parental function for Lia, both in abstract terms, conceivable as identity issues, and in practical and therefore actionable terms. Faced with the prospect of becoming a parent, the individual is inevitably confronted with the internalisation of their most significant experiences with their attachment figures, in other words with their 'internal parent', with all the experiences associated with it.
