LA CRISI SOCIALE DEL NOSTRO TEMPO. RIFLESSIONI SUL PENSIERO DI WILHELM RÖPKE

Published in 1942 in Erlenbach (Zürich), Wilhelm Röpke’s The Social Crisis of Our Time was translated in Italian in 1946. The previous note has the purpose of analysing the influence that this work had in postwar Italy, considering in particular the action of the Government coalition led by Alcide De Gasperi’s Christian Democracy. On the other end, due to the revival of the author in our Country, wich brought to reprint some of his books after many years, it was made an attempt to underline the actuality of his thought.The problems connected to the massification of society and the crisis of the 19th century liberal order, studied by Röpke at the half of last century, are in fact the key to understand what is happening today. Now as then the so-called “crisis of contemporary democracy” is bonded to the revolution caused by the coming of new medias and their impact on public debate, together with the capability of the institutional system of assuring the representation and an efficient political choice at the same time.
