Background: Physical inactivity is particularly relevant in patients with chronic renal failure, a category of patients in whom substantial worsening of physical fitness and frailty is strongly associated with adverse prognosis and reduced quality of life. This pilot study aims to implement a physical activity program within the therapeutic path of adult patients in renal replacement treatment (peritoneal and hemodialysis) and transplants to increase physical performance and improve quality of life.

Methods: Pilot, non-pharmacological, single-arm, monocentric, non-profit study on a convenience sample of at least ten nephropathic patients recruited from November 2021 to January 2022. Patients will undergo a therapeutic walk program consisting of 22 sessions. The immediate recovery index, body mass composition, blood parameters and quality of life will be measured.

Conclusions: The application of this small-scale study aims to verify its feasibility and adequacy to obtain information that permits designing future studies.
